Project Overview

 

The Kaohsiung Intercontinental Container Terminal (KICT) Project is being implemented in response to the trend of accommodating large container ships.

 

The Project is being built in phases in which the first phase was the construction of four container terminals with a length of 1,500 meters and depth of 16.5 meters. The terminals can handle the loading for the berthing of more than 10,000 TEU container ships and the port will increase its annual container handling capacity to more than three million TEU.  This will significantly enhance the international competitiveness for the Port of Kaoshiung and enable it to maintain its standing as a hub port in the Asia-Pacific Region.

The second phase of the project comprises the construction of a petrochemical oil storage and transport center and includes 19 new piers covering a total area of 422.5 hectares as the new container base. This will accommodate the berthing of container ships with a capacity of 22,000 TEU at terminals having a depth varying between 14 and 18 meters.

CECI has been providing planning, design and construction supervision services for both stages of the KICT Project.
