Project Overview

The Tainan Shalun Branch Line is Taiwan Railway’s first elevated branch line and provides a link that connects the High Speed Railway Station serving the Tainan metropolitan area with other stations closer to Tainan. 

 

The new line is expected to greatly improve the overall transportation service and quality of living for the residents of Tainan and adjacent areas and passengers are able to make transfers at the other stations and connect to the nearby Tainan Science Park.

 

The civil engineering works of the project included

 

  • 1.2 kilometers of at-grade works,

  • 5.27 kilometers of elevated works including two new elevated stations,

  • the new Shalun Station, and

  • the reconstruction of Zhongzhou Station

 

Besides the elevated civil engineering works, other project works comprised:

  • the drainage systems,

  • landscape engineering,

  • noise protection barriers and

  • the Electrical & Mechanical (E&M) engineering works, including the signaling and power supply, lighting systems, fire-fighting systems, elevators and escalators, etc.
