Project Overview
The Government of Vietnam applied for a loan from the Asian Development Bank (ADB) toward the cost of the Vietnam component of the Transasian Highway from Ho Chi Minh City to Phnom Penh.
This project improved the section of Highway No.1 between Thu Duc and An Suong on the northern outskirts of Ho Chi Minh City (about 20 kilometers in length), and the section of Highway No. 22 between An Suong and Moc Bai on the border with Cambodia (about 58 kilometers in length). The project works included improvement and widening of the existing road, partly through congested urban areas under heavy traffic, and the construction of a number of bridges.
After reviewing the design to identify inconsistencies, the Consultant Team conducted a feasibility study as well as the preliminary design and final design for additional works including 2 interchanges, 5 flyovers, 2 bridges and the widening and improvement for 30 kilometers of national highway.
Hence, the total overall length of the projects was adjusted to 96.35 kilometers and included the construction of 9 new bridges, rehabilitation to 2 bridges and the construction of 10 intersections and flyovers.
The Consultant Team led by CECI carried out the construction supervision services on this important highway component which was fully completed in 2006.
