Project Overview

 

The Royal Science and Technology Park (RTSP) was created to lay the foundation for the development of a knowledge economy and develop infrastructure to facilitate the development of science, technology and innovation through research and development in the economy.

 

There are two divisions of the RSTP: (1) the Biotechnology Park and (2) the Innovation Park, which are located within 10 minutes of each other and will share a “one stop facility” that creates an enabling environment to the investor wishing to settle within the Science and Technology Park.

The Biotechnology Park

The Biotechnology Park is located at Nokwane and will focus on activities such as:

  • Agriculture, Plant and Animal Biotechnology.

  • Environment and Biodiversity.

  • Medical Biotechnology.

  • Biofuels, Biofertilizers, Biopesticides, Biochemicals and Bioenergy products.

  • Bioprocesses, Product Development, and Bioinstrumentation.

  • Human Resource Development.

  • Creation and Strengthening of Infrastructure in Existing Institutions and setting up new Institutions.

  • Basic Research in New Biology and Biotechnology

The park covers an area of 159 hectares and aims to be a sustainable development built on the developmental elements of compatibility, diversity, identity and efficiency for future physical development.

CECI commenced feasibility study and master planning services for the Biotechnology Park development in 2008 and since then has carried out design services and is now supervising its construction.

 

The Innovation Park

The Innovation Park is located at Phocweni right next door to the Biotechnology Park and will house facilities such as:

  • The technology based research and development center.

  • The entrepreneurship development center.

  • The E-governance center.

  • The call center.

  • Administration facilities.

  • Boardroom and auditoriums.

  • Advanced school of IT

  • National Data center

The park covers an area of 160 hectares and will be developed in two phases fully equipped with the functional components for industrial zones, residential areas, a service center, public facilities, and ecological landscapes and greenery.

CECI commenced master planning of the Innovation Park development in 2016 and is now in the midst of carrying out the detailed design and construction supervision services for the first phase of the project.
