CECI takes part in the 16th Asian Regional Conference on Soil Mechanics and Geotechnical Engineering
Renowned scholars and experts from all over the world gathered at the Taipei International Conference Center (TICC) this month to participate in the 16th Asian Regional Conference on Soil Mechanics and Geotechnical Engineering hosted by the Chinese Taipei Geotechnical Society (CTGS).
The special event held once every four years features numerous workshops, presentations and other activities led by keynote speakers in the field of soil mechanics and geotechnical engineering. The theme for this year, “Geotechnique for Sustainable Development and Emerging Market Regions”, enabled participants to share and discuss their knowledge and experiences on numerous topics related to modern geotechnical technologies that match up with this main theme.
During break periods and on their free time, participants also had the opportunity to browse an exhibition area and visit with the sponsors, among which was CECI’s exhibit showcasing some of our prominent projects in tunnel, geotechnical and slope protection engineering.
CECI’s Chairman, Dr. Lie-Liung CHOU, had the honor of serving as the Chairman of the Taiwan Advisory Board for the Conference and the pleasure of welcoming all participants at the Gala Dinner on October 16th to enjoy a round table banquet and cultural performance.
The final day of the Conference on October 18th featured some special technical tours to various sites around Taiwan including the Suhua Highway Improvement Project in northeastern Taiwan which is characterized by its 23 kilometers of tunnel in mountainous terrain and complex geological conditions.
