Central Taiwan International Airport
The Central Taiwan International Airport Project expands and improves the existing airport located in Taichung so as to be able to better handle an increase in demands for international and cross-strait (between Taiwan and China) flights, and involves both airside and landside facilities.
The airside facilities include the relocation of the taxiways for improved aircraft conveyance and navigation as well as a new parking apron which can accommodate 5 aircraft parking bridges, while the landside facilities comprise a new international terminal (including a sewage treatment plant) as well as an airport hangar for aircraft maintenance.
The new international terminal is able to accommodate 1.35 million passengers each year enabling both terminals to be able to jointly serve 2.55 million passengers per year.
The building is a four story structure designed with upturned roofs and equipped with solar panels which partially power airport facilities inside the terminal.
